My inspiration for this piece was the impressionistic style and the sunset shown in the image. Before deciding what to put on my piece, I knew I wanted to do something that gave off a relaxing and soothing mood. For me, the beach was a really relaxing place so I decided on that then realized that the sunset would enhance the relaxing feeling you get from looking at the piece.

    This piece was created using acrylic paint on a canvas. It was meant to show the style of  impressionism. Impressionism is a painting method that was most popular around 1874. I used short brush strokes on my canvas while mainly using a flat brush. To get the paint to have texture and stick out in some places i added lots of layers. I also added layers to make the colors more vibrant but blended.
